A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a phone message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I know what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to understand," she added.

The jury was advised that via emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with law enforcement who compiled the information, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court learned Mrs Spragg established a association via internet with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the months preceding the visit to the village, that area, in December 2024.
