World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a record £11m in prize money.

She earned almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
